Deep Fried Turkey!

This is the turkey i had for thanks giving being put into the deep fryer. The set up is actually from a home brew kit, but works just as well for this. The turkey itself turned out delicious, a tad undercooked when we took it out, but still delicious.

Mission Vodka Watermelon: Failed

So, after just under a week, the watermelon was rotting inside, I think i did something wrong while making it, oh well at least it was real shitty vodka, and watermelon was pretty cheap. I was looking forward to trying it too! oh well, maybe next time

we do not get along at all, i bought this pos back in may and have had to take it to frys to get reparied twice so far, soon to be three times. It keeps shutting off randomly in the middle of my work -.- , then rebooting. Does anybody have any advice? taking this shit back for a third time is just getting to be rediculous. Can i demand a new one or something like get them on selling faulty products eventualy? i just want this damn thing to work ><

I had to do this with a regaler camera, so each frame is a composite of photos, and each stream of water and each color change is a different photo sequence. The program I used was mainly shake, and a little final cut pro to touch it up a bit.

Road Trip

So a few weekends ago I drove from Downers Grove, IL to Portland, OR, and this is a state by state of what went on, if you want to see photos of the trip check on my facebook.

This is the route I took.

Illinois
This was a pretty normal drive, nothing special. If you have drove on the highway for an hour or so around Chicago, you have done this part.

Wisconsin
Wisconsin was cool because I went to an area I had not been to before. Also, I met up with my Uncle Andy for a few hours for lunch. I was shown around the town of Sparta, and where all my cousins goto school/for the day (which was oddly interesting). The town was real small, quiet, and old fashioned. Had lunch at this antique dinner/coffee shop/ice cream parlor. I left there around 4pm and shot strait into Minnesota.

Minnesota
Not much to say about this place, drove strait through without much of a stop. Was similar to the WI country. One thing did happen to me though, I got a speeding ticket here. Was going freaking NINE miles over. NINE miles, GG end of the month need for tickets.

South Dakota
Entered SD, and stopped about 15 minutes in at Sioux Falls. Was a little big city, lots of casinos. Even the Macdonald's had a casino in it. Stopped at a Taco Johns for some dinner, and stayed at a Comfort Inn. Pretty much fell strait asleep once I got into the room.

The next day got up pretty early, around 7, and hit the road right away. Just outside of town I stopped at a buffalo farm and stocked up with three pounds of buffalo in the form of jerky and sticks. This stuff was amazing, and I kept a wrapper because they mail it out too!

So I got back on the highway, and started to trek across South Dakota. Now I had planned to stop at Tourist attractions and traps, but I tried to check the first few I saw out, and they all were closed until April. Because of this, I stopped checking them out on the way.

There was one, however, that had caught my eye; not that I really had a choice. Pretty much since I left the buffalo farm there were signs for "Wall Drug." These signs were like every 50 feet. As you can see below.

This is pretty much all I saw, with a few other tourist attraction posters till about 50 miles outside of Rapid City, which is where I finally found Wall Drug. After seeing these posters for the whole state, I pretty much had to stop and see what it was. Well, it pretty much is the whole town. The town was called Wall, and Wall drug was a drug store, grocery store, gift shop, restaurant, coffee house, poster shop, camping store, and about ten other random stores in it. It even had a hotel in it. I ate lunch there and bought a shirt. Lunch was just a burger, but out of all the luck in the world my waitress had moved from downers grove to this town when she was eight. Nothing reminds you how small the world is like little weird coincidences.

Back on the road into Rapid City I went, and strait through it toward Mt. Rushmore! Once I got past the city limits it pretty much became a country/farm land. It felt like I was one of those cartoons walking through a city and suddenly it became the desert, and they had to back track to get in the city. Anyway thats a different subject all together, the track I had to follow to the monument was pretty sweet to drive on. Amazing sights going up that mountain looking across the land. Also the roads are pretty intense to drive on, some were 30mph highways. Which meant the big trucks and such passed me going 50, but I had to go slow or else all the rocks and dirt would make me spin off the mountain. I even tried to go up to 35, and lost control almost instantly.

After while I had finally hit my first destination! It felt like such an accomplishment to see such a great monument. Those of you who know me much, know that I'm not all to patriotic. But this actually made me feel "Proud to be American" as they say. If you ever get the chance, I strongly recommend going there, its a mind blowing sight.

I went back to my car, and head back out to finish my journey. The rest of SD was nothing extremely special, and was like the rest of the state minus the tourist posters.

Wyoming
The best thing about Wyoming was the gas price, still only $3 (why does it seem wrong to say only and $3 for gas, fucking bush). Other then that there was really not to much to this state, it was flat, clear sunny skies, and windy. Also, Sheridan, WY was my second nights resting stop. Best Western this time, these are a bit pricey, but I got a free hot breakfast and it had a good bar in it so was not such a bad deal. In the morning I woke up and drove out of the state.

Montana
Montana sucked to drive through. It was by far the most windy of the states I went through, I was literally getting blown around hard enough that I had to pull over and wait till it died down a bit. The mountains were bipolar, every five minutes it would start/stop snowing, and the snow made it so I could see maybe 20 feet ahead. When it was between snowing, the skies were bright, blue and clear.

Not only was the weather incredibly harsh, the towns were creepy. Billings was a major city, all it had was out of business restaurants, auto mechanics, gas, and bars. I drove through this town in the afternoon on Saturday planning to grab lunch here, and nothing was open. It felt like they had all locked up as if a meteor was coming or something.

Another town I stopped at for gas was, well I forget the name of the town. It was a tiny little place though. I'm pretty sure that zombies lived there, I drove by several old people who looked as if they were about to fall apart. Also, I drove past a group of about fifteen kids. As I drove past them, they just stood where they were. Slowly turning their heads as I passed at the 15mph I was going. It was one of the most creepy experiences I have ever had.

After all this I head up into the mountains where the snow was all crazy as I mentioned earlier. The wind had also picked back up, it was strong enough to actually push me into the divider wall, luckily nothing was damaged. Just freaked me out a bit. Pulled over for few minutes to catch up with what just happened, and into Idaho I go.

Idaho
Not much to say about this I drove through the state in like an hour, Better then the Montana weather, but still shitty.

Washington
I felt at home again! I love the northwest. I stopped at Spokane after some hard traveling, looking for a place to stay. And every place I stopped at was full, found out later there was several events going on in the city. Because of this I had to drive for another hour and half to get to the next city big enough to have a hotel. This city was Ritzville. This was a town where everybody knew each other, and was super friendly. I loved it, ate dinner at a diner which had been passed through the family for 3 generations, since the 1950s.

I woke up in the morning, and saw it had snowed the night before and still was. This was fantastic because it cleaned all the dirt and crap I got on my car from Montana.. fucking Montana.. and meant I did not need a car wash anymore! Now the only problem was the highway had not been plowed or anything yet. I started on my way going about 40 until a trucker finally passed me, which let me go up to 60mph.

Oregon
The final stretch! I stopped for gas in WA just so I wouldn't have to in Oregon at all. I wanted to drive strait through till I was home. And that is exactly what I did. It was great to be home again finally, especially after 9-11 hours a day for three days and 5 for the last day.

Super Soaker for MA266 (Intermediate Modeling)

This was a new experience, we were just told to model anything of our choice, anyway we wanted. I chose to do a super soaker because about 1/2 the class chose a gun, and I felt this was a good way to mock them for it. What made this an unusually experience was that I chose to do this all in nurbs, which are basically curves like you would make in Illustrater, but 3d. If i remember ill take screens of wireframes and curves.
